Babu Owino: My bodyguards held at Kisumu police station
Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has said his security details are not with him.
Speaking to a local TV station on Sunday, February 22, 2026, the lawmaker said that some powerful individuals are harassing his security team.

He went on to state that his officers are currently being held at Kisumu Central Police Station despite no charges being presented against them.
“As we speak, my security officers are in Kisumu Central Police Station just because they refused to join Raymond’s team. There is no charge up to now,” Babu said.
The outspoken MP further detailed the circumstances surrounding the arrest of his bodyguards, indicating that the officers who picked them up were not based in Kisumu.
“The people who arrested them, they are police officers who came from DCI HQ in Nairobi not Kisumu, specially organized to come and arrest them,” he stated.
Babu also claimed that even local officers were uncomfortable with the situation, alleging interference in their work.

“Even the police officers in Kisumu are saying PS Interior is rogue, he is disturbing them, he cannot give them their independence. Every time phone calls, go and arrest so and so because those people are not speaking his language,” he said.
He added that the situation has affected his family as well.
“He is the same person who sent DCI officers who arrested my brother-in-law,” Babu said during the televised interview.
The legislator maintained that his security team remains in custody without formal charges and called for due process to be followed.
The matter has since sparked debate online, with supporters demanding clarity over the detention of the MP’s bodyguards and the circumstances surrounding their arrest.
