Alai mocks Sifuna, Orengo and Babu over huge rally in Kitengela

Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly (MCA) Robert Alai has given his verdict after thousands turned up for a political rally in Kitengela on Sunday, February 15, 2026.
The rally, which was addressed by the Orange Democratic Movement faction opposed to the party backing President William Ruto’s reelection, saw Edwin Sifuna and Babu Owino flex their muscles, causing jitters in the rival camp, which Alai supports.

The blogger added that former Prime Minister, the late Raila Odinga, drew huge crowds but never emerged victorious.
“Don’t scare us with crowds. Raila gave us the biggest crowds for 5 elections. If crowds made anyone president, Raila would be president 5 times. Mtajua hamjui!” Alai wrote on X on Monday, February 16, 2026.
Babu, Orengo & Sifuna raid Kitengela
Sifuna, Babu Owino and James Orengo teamed up with a host of firebrand politicians to bring Kitengela to a standstill, with a sea of humanity turning up for the rally.
Videos circulating online show enthusiastic supporters cheering and walking alongside the leaders.

At some point during the gathering, police dispersed sections of the crowd using tear gas, adding to the dramatic scenes that later dominated social media timelines.
The warm reception sparked renewed online debate about the shifting political dynamics in the country and deep divisions with ODM.

The rally, which later saw police disperse sections of the crowd, has since sparked national conversations online about youth participation in public life.
Despite the chaos caused by teargas canisters allegedly fired by the police, the rally caused jitters with youths in their thousands warming up to the Linda Mwananchi camp as the rival Linda Ground outfit led by Oburu Odinga appears to struggle to keep up.
The camp had a rally in Tononoka Grounds in Mombasa, but the numbers were a pale shadow of what ODM used to attract in the area.
Photos taken show a modest crowd that barely filled the grounds.
