Aga Khan Hospital confirms death after person falls from Nairobi building

Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi has confirmed a death following an incident in which a person fell from one of its buildings on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

In a statement on Thursday, June 18, 2026, the hospital expressed regret over the incident and extended condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased. The institution, however, did not disclose the identity of the individual involved.

“Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi, can confirm that an individual fell from one of our buildings and sadly passed on. We are deeply saddened by this incident and extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones, “the hospital stated.

Investigation launched

The hospital confirmed that it has already initiated a probe into the incident, working closely with relevant investigative authorities to establish what led to the fall.

“The hospital is cooperating with the relevant authorities as they investigate the circumstances surrounding the matter,” the statement read in part.

The medical facility also requested privacy for the family during the ongoing investigations, urging the public to respect the sensitivity of the matter.

Aga Khan Hospital further emphasised the importance of respecting the dignity of patients and the privacy of both families and staff members during such incidents.

“We kindly request that the privacy and dignity of the family, our patients, and staff be respected as the investigations continue, “Aga Khan University Hospital stated.

The incident comes about a year after another fatal fall was reported at Kenyatta National Hospital.

In that case, a person died after reportedly falling from one of the hospital’s buildings, prompting investigations into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
