2 nabbed in possession of 20 litres of chang’aa and 409 rolls of bhang

Two people have been nabbed in Homa Bay County after they were found in possession of 20 litres of chang’aa and 409 rolls of bhang during a police patrol operation.
In a statement on Saturday, February 21, 2022, the National Police Service (NPS) announced that it has intensified patrols across the country as part of ongoing efforts to curb criminal activity and enhance public safety.
The regular patrols are aimed at deterring crime while reassuring residents of law enforcement’s presence and readiness to respond.
Further, the NPS stated that during a patrol, officers received a tip-off about suspected illegal activities at Riat Shopping Centre in Oria Sub-Location. Acting swiftly on the information, the officers proceeded to the premises and arrested two suspects.
Upon search, the officers recovered approximately 20 litres of chang’aa and 409 rolls of cannabis sativa, commonly known as bhang.
“Acting on the information received, the officers apprehended two suspects who were found at the premises in possession of approximately 20 litres of chang’aa and 409 rolls of cannabis sativa,” read the statement in part.
The two persons of interest are currently being held in police custody and are expected to be arraigned in court.

Coast
This comes shortly after three people of interest were arrested in the Coast region following coordinated raids by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) targeting illegal drugs.
The Anti-Narcotics Unit (Coast Region), working with the DCI’s Operation Support Unit, conducted raids based on credible intelligence.
In Kisimani, officers recovered a whitish powdery substance believed to be narcotics and several unserviceable mobile phones from the home of Daudi Ahmed Ali. He was taken to Bamburi Police Station, and the items are pending forensic analysis.

“Acting on credible intelligence, detectives conducted a raid at a residence in the Kisimani area belonging to Daudi Ahmed Ali. During the search, officers recovered a whitish powdery substance wrapped in clear polythene, suspected to be narcotics, as well as assorted unserviceable mobile phones believed to be stolen property. The suspect was arrested and escorted to Bamburi Police Station, where he was booked. The recovered items were secured pending weighing, sampling, and forensic analysis,” DCI stated.
