Tahmeed Coach bans used bedding on buses after bedbug infestation

In an official statement shared on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, the bus company acknowledged the viral videos involving bus KCR 615 and said the infestation had been identified on July 17, 2026.
Tahmeed said it has now stopped carrying used bedding on all its routes as part of measures to prevent a similar incident from occurring again.
“We acknowledge the videos circulating online regarding bus KCR 615. On 17th July 2026, we identified a bedbug infestation on KCR 615. We acted at once. We stopped carrying used bedding on all routes to prevent re-infestation,” the company said in a service update.
The company also announced that it had increased the frequency of fumigation across its buses.
“We increased fumigation intervals for all our buses,” Tahmeed said.
The transport operator further said it would upgrade the materials used for its seat covers, opting for types that do not harbour bedbugs.
“We will upgrade seat cover materials to types that do not harbour bedbugs,” the company said.

Action taken
Tahmeed said the measures follow the identification of a bedbug infestation on KCR 615 on July 17.
The company said it immediately moved passengers from the affected bus to another vehicle to ensure their safety and comfort.
It then grounded KCR 615 and removed all the seats before thoroughly spraying and fumigating the entire bus to eliminate the bedbugs.

Tahmeed further explained that KCR 615 was only returned to service after the company confirmed that it was pest-free.
“We have cleared KCR 615 for service only after confirming it is 100% pest-free,” Tahmeed stated.

The announcement comes after videos involving KCR 615 circulated online, prompting the company to address the incident and outline the steps it had taken.
Tahmeed also urged passengers to continue reporting issues they encounter while using its services.
