How to rearrange your Instagram posts using the new grid feature

There was a time when fixing your Instagram profile meant deleting posts, archiving memories, or posting new photos just to push an old one further down the grid. It felt like trying to rearrange furniture by moving the entire house. Thankfully, those days are over.
Instagram finally rolled out one of its most requested features, allowing users to rearrange posts on their profile grid without deleting or reposting them. Whether you are a content creator, small business owner, influencer, or simply someone who enjoys a neat-looking profile, this update gives you complete control over how your page looks.
If you have ever wished you could move your best holiday photo to the top, group your travel pictures, or create a more attractive profile without disturbing the original upload dates, here is everything you need to know.
What is Instagram’s new grid rearranging feature?
Instagram’s new “Reorder Grid” feature allows users to move posts around their profile by simply dragging and dropping them into different positions. The original posting date, likes, comments and captions remain the same. Only the position of the post on your profile changes.
Previously, Instagram displayed posts in reverse chronological order. Your newest upload always appeared first unless you pinned up to three posts. Now, almost every post can be placed wherever you want on your grid.
Think of your Instagram profile as a photo album. Instead of accepting the order, the photos were added, you can now arrange the album exactly how you like.
How to rearrange your Instagram posts
Using the feature is surprisingly simple, although you will need the latest version of the Instagram app.
Step 1: Update Instagram
Before anything else, visit your phone’s app store and make sure Instagram is updated to the newest version. The feature is rolling out gradually, so if you do not see it immediately, you may need to wait a little longer.
Step 2: Open your profile
Launch Instagram and tap your profile picture in the bottom right corner.
You will see your familiar grid of photos and videos.
Step 3: Long press any post
Press and hold any post you want to move.
A menu will appear with several options.
Select Reorder Grid.
Step 4: Drag and drop
Once the editing screen opens, simply drag your posts into the positions you prefer.
You can move an old picture from five years ago to the very top if you want.
There is no need to delete or repost anything.
Step 5: Save automatically
As soon as you finish rearranging, Instagram saves the changes automatically. Anyone visiting your profile will immediately see the new layout.
What stays the same?
The feature changes only how posts appear on your profile.
Everything else remains untouched, including:
The original upload date
Likes and comments
Shares and saves
Captions
Location tags
Hashtags
This means your engagement history stays intact while your profile gets a fresh new look.
