Dad is a good man: Rosemary Kimwatu’s son defends his father amid a barrage of accusations
By Valerian Khakayi, September 7, 2026The eldest son of the late Rosemary Chemutai Kimwatu has come to the defence of his father, Kevin Migwe Kimwatu, amid the public scrutiny and accusations surrounding his parents’ marriage.
Charles Migwe Kimwatu spoke during a memorial Mass held on Monday, September 7, 2026, in honour of his late mother, where he reflected on his parents’ relationship and asked the public to allow the family to mourn in peace.
Addressing his father directly, Charles described him as a good man who genuinely loved his late mother.
“Dad is a good man; he loved you. The way people write about what the two of you had was not just a marriage; it was proof that anyone can find love, anyone can find happiness,” Charles said.
He said his parents’ relationship had shaped his own understanding of love and what he hopes to find in the future.
“Today, I know love is real because of what you and Dad shared; it is the standard I carry with me now, the thing I hope one day I will find myself,” he added.
Charles’s view on relationships
Charles also appeared to distance himself and his family from the public discussions surrounding his parents, saying the noise from outside would not change the way he viewed their relationship.
“Whatever noise exists outside these walls that I have built for myself that will not move, and it will never,” he said.
His remarks came amid heightened public attention surrounding Rosemary’s death, her marriage and the events that followed. The late KCB executive died on August 21, 2026, and was later buried at her parents’ family home in Chepseon, Kericho County.
The circumstances surrounding her burial had also triggered a legal dispute between her husband and members of her family, with disagreements emerging over funeral arrangements.
Charles, however, urged people to stop focusing on the claims and allow his mother to rest.
“There is so much noise about you and your work and your marriage, and I am here out loud saying, Please let my mum rest in peace,” Charles urged.
His emotional tribute came as family members and friends continued to remember Rosemary, who served as Head of Data Protection at KCB Bank Group and was also known for her work in technology, law and data protection.
Charles’ comments also echoed the wider tributes to Rosemary, with her family and loved ones choosing to remember her for her life, career and role as a mother rather than the controversies that emerged following her death.
