Creating a website no longer requires coding skills or days of work.

With modern tools, you can have a fully functional website up and running in under 15 minutes.

This guide walks you through a simple process using WordPress via Softaculous.

Before we begin, this guide assumes you already have a domain name and an active hosting package with access to a control panel such as cPanel.

Step 1: Log in to your hosting account

Start by logging into your hosting dashboard. Most hosting providers give you access to cPanel, which is where Softaculous is located.

Once inside cPanel, scroll down until you find the Softaculous Apps Installer.

Click on Softaculous, then select WordPress from the list of available applications.

Step 2: Install WordPress

Click the “Install” button. You will be asked to fill in a few details.

Choose the domain where you want the website installed. If you want the site to appear when someone visits your main domain, leave the directory field empty.

Next, set your site name and description. These can be changed later, so do not overthink it.

Create your admin username and password. Use something secure but easy to remember. Avoid using “admin” as your username for security reasons.

Choose your preferred language, then scroll down and click “Install”.

Softaculous will take a few seconds to install WordPress. Once complete, you will be given a link to your website and your admin dashboard.

Step 3: Access your wordpress dashboard

Click the admin URL provided after installation. This usually looks like yourdomain.com/wp-admin.

Log in using the username and password you created. This dashboard is where you will control everything on your website.

Step 4: Choose a theme

To make your website look professional, go to Appearance, then Themes, and click “Add New”.

You can browse thousands of free themes. Choose one that matches your purpose, whether it is a blog, business website or portfolio.

Click “Install” and then “Activate”.

Step 5: Create basic pages

Every website needs a few essential pages. Go to Pages, then “Add New”.

Start with pages like Home, About and Contact. Add simple content for now. You can refine it later.

Click “Publish” once done.

Step 6: Set your homepage

By default, WordPress shows blog posts on the homepage. To change this, go to Settings, then Reading.

Select “A static page” and choose your Home page.

Save changes.

Step 7: Install essential plugins

Plugins add functionality to your site. Go to Plugins, then “Add New”.

Install basic plugins such as a contact form, SEO plugin and security tool. Popular options include contact form builders and search engine optimisation plugins.

Activate the plugins after installation.
