‘Please don’t fill it’ – Kenyan doctor’s stool sample tip gets funny reactions

A Kenyan doctor has left social media users laughing after sharing a humorous explanation about how much stool patients should put in a sample container when they are sent for a stool test.
The doctor, whose video was delivered with plenty of laughter, appeared surprised by the way some people approach stool sample collection, particularly those who seem to think they have to fill the entire container.

Using a small sample container as an example, she explained that patients do not need to provide a large amount of stool. Instead, the container comes with a small spoon, or kijiko, which is meant to be used to scoop a small portion of the sample.
Her humorous delivery made the otherwise awkward topic entertaining, as she questioned why someone would be given a container with a spoon only to go ahead and fill the entire thing.
Why fill it all?
“Mbona nikupee hii kitu ueke stool halafu uende ujaze?” the doctor asked while laughing.
She went on to explain that patients should use the spoon provided to scoop a small amount and put it on one side of the container.
Her explanation appeared to be a simple reminder to patients to follow the instructions given by healthcare workers rather than assuming they need to fill the container.
But the doctor’s funniest moment came when she imagined what could happen if someone misunderstood the instructions and decided to keep their previous stool sample.
‘We do not store stool’
The doctor joked about a patient who could return for another stool test and tell healthcare workers that they had already provided a sample.
She imagined the patient asking why they needed to provide another sample, saying they had given stool the previous month.
The scenario then took an even funnier turn when she joked, “Eti kwani hatukueka stool kwa fridge?”
Laughing, she immediately questioned the idea, asking, “Nani hueka stool kwa fridge? Can you guys be serious?”

Her reaction has made the post particularly amusing, with the awkward subject matter, her laughter and the imagined fridge scenario giving social media users plenty to talk about.
Despite the humour, the doctor’s message was straightforward: patients asked to provide stool samples should use the small scoop supplied with the container and provide only the amount required, rather than filling the whole container.
