Constant fatigue: Why some people feel tired even after sleeping

You slept well for seven to eight hours. But even with all of this, you wake up tired, sleepy, and without energy. Unfortunately, this happens to a lot of people every day.

People usually think that fatigue is caused by not getting enough sleep, but it can also be caused by how you live and how many hours you sleep. “It’s not only about sleeping hours anymore,” a health specialist from Mayo Clinic said in a past interview.

Here are some of the modern lifestyle habits that may exhaust you even without your notice.

1. Your Screen Activities

It can seem like using a smartphone or watching videos before sleep helps you relax. However, it affects your sleeping process in a negative way. Blue light produced by screens prevents your body from producing the necessary hormone, melatonin. So, despite the numerous hours you sleep, you do not actually rest. You feel exhausted since your sleep was ineffective, ending up affecting your health.

2. Lack of physical activities

Lack of movement can cause fatigue. The body needs movement since it boosts energy. When you engage in physical activities, it helps your brain to become more alert, helps in oxygen flow and blood circulation, which makes the body more productive.

3. Poor eating patterns

Irregular meal consumption, frequent consumption of unhealthy foods, and reliance on high-sugar snack foods result in low energy. Consuming foods that contain high levels of sugar provides an instant boost but only temporarily.

Soon after, the energy level falls below pre-consumption levels

4. Dehydration

Insufficient water consumption during the day is common among many individuals. Dehydration may trigger fatigue, headaches, lack of focus, and other symptoms associated with chronic exhaustion.

5. Cognitive Strain and Stress

Sometimes, mental issues are the cause of your constant fatigue. Even if you go to bed, your mind doesn’t truly shut down. You are thinking about things you need to do, tasks you did not accomplish, or simply ingesting information from your phone all the time.

Your brain is therefore functioning even while your body is at rest. When you wake up, you are exhausted rather than rejuvenated.

But How Can You Fix That?

This can be fixed through limiting your screen time before sleeping, moving frequently, exercising regularly, consuming healthy foods rather than snacking, increasing your daily water consumption, and taking regular mental breaks. With increased activity, mental strain, and changes in lifestyles, more people are experiencing chronic fatigue and cannot find its cause.

Feeling tired all the time isn’t always about sleep; it’s about your daily habits. Because sometimes, the real reason you’re exhausted is hidden in the small things you do every day.
