Pained Geoffrey Mosiria feels for Kenyans buying bodabodas through loans

By , November 19, 2025

A compassionate and pained Geoffrey Mosiria has come forward to highlight the struggles that bodaboda riders in Nairobi and many Kenyans face in the hands of lenders.

Through a post on his Facebook account on November 18, 2025, Mosiria regretted that many Kenyans in the bodaboda industry who buy motorcycles through loans end up paying four times higher than the original price.

He went on to state how the exploitation is increasing poverty levels among the youths who work day and night just to make a living.

“Watu wa bodaboda wanateseka sana, na walai wanahitaji msaada wa haraka,” Mosiria posted on Facebook, which is a gentle reminder that behind every bodaboda on the road is a young person fighting silent battles.

He pointed out that riders who opt for loans are often sold motorcycles at inflated prices, only to find themselves tied to contracts that drain them financially for years.

“Wanauziwa pikipiki kwa bei ya juu kupita kiasi, na hatimaye wanalipa hadi mara nne ya bei halisi,” he said, calling the practice pure exploitation.

Mosiria insisted that such unfair financial systems only widen the gap between effort and reward.

He noted that these hardworking youths contribute greatly to the city’s economy, yet they are trapped in debt cycles that weigh down their hopes.

He urged for permanent solutions, transparent credit systems and fair lending practices to ensure riders are protected from predatory agreements.

“Ni muhimu tupate suluhisho la kudumu… hawa vijana hawanyanyaswi kupitia mikataba ya kifedha isiyo ya haki,” he added.

Mosiria launches crackdown on Uthiru noise polluters

This concern came just hours after Mosiria conducted an impromptu operation in Uthiru targeting noise pollution and unlicensed entertainment joints.

Leo nmekuwa pale Uthiru leading an operation targeting wine & spirits, bars and restaurants that have been playing loud music,” he shared.

He also reported that one supervisor was arrested and exhibits were confiscated for court proceedings.

He emphasised that under the leadership of Governor Johnson Sakaja, Nairobi County remains committed to restoring order and ensuring peace for every resident.

Mosiria’s latest message painted a soft but powerful picture of a leader who listens, empathises and responds, both on the streets and online.
