There are three ways of registering as a member of the Social Health Authority fund. According to SHA, Kenyans can register through the Website, using USSD and can also be assisted by an authorised SHA representative.

While using the SHA website, the first step Kenyans are advised is to click on register and start the registration process.

Notably, Kenayns are particularly urged to take a few minutes to go through the policies, instructions for self-onboarding and the terms and conditions before continuing to the next step.

The second step is to go through the self-registration process. After reading the terms and conditions, enter your details on the subsequent pages, then proceed to finish your self-registration.

The third and the last step while registering using the web registration is to review the details and finish the application. Once done with the review, confirm the details entered on the application and submit accurate data required.

USSD self-registration

The next mode of registering for SHA is Unstructured Supplementary Service Data ( USSD), whereby Kenyans are asked to dial the USSD code on their phone.

On your Keypad, dial *147# on your mobile device, then proceed to accept the SHA terms and conditions.

The second step of using the USSD registration option is entering your Kenyan identity card number and first name for verification. Then, proceed by confirming your details.

The third step is to complete the registration process by entering all your details accurately and await a confirmation message to confirm your registration once done.

Huduma centre and SHA agents

According to SHA, Kenyans who can not register using USSD and Web self-registration are advised to visit their nearest Huduma Centre and get assistance with registration

Likewise, you can also visit your nearest Authorised SHA Agent and ask for assisted activation for your Social Health insurance. Make sure to carry your National ID card to facilitate the process.

Once you are the Huduma Centre or an Authorised agent, a SHA agent will capture all necessary personal information, including civil status and details of dependents where necessary.

What follows next will be a preview of the details of the application that you have provided. If the information entered is correct, the application will be submitted, biometrics captured, and the application completed.
