‘Words fail me’ – Yemi Alade mourns Alexx Ekubo with emotional tribute
The entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of Alexx Ikenna Ekubo-Okwaraeke.

Among those who mourned him was award-winning singer Yemi Eberechi Alade, who shared a heartbreaking message on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, expressing her pain and disbelief over the loss.
“Words fail me, but man proposes, and God disposes,” Yemi wrote alongside broken heart and dove emojis.
The singer went on to thank the actor for the impact he had on the entertainment industry and the lives of many people around the world.
“Thank you for blessing our screens with your talent and grace. Thank you for impacting my life and the lives of many around the world,” she added.
Alexx’s death
Known for his charm and versatility, Alexx Ekubo built a successful career in Nollywood and became one of the industry’s most recognised faces.
Over the years, he featured in numerous films and television productions, earning praise for his acting skills and connection with audiences.
His family confirmed his death, saying he passed away after a brief battle with advanced metastatic kidney cancer.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, the family revealed that Ekubo died at Evercare Hospital after complications from the illness.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Son, Brother, and Friend, Alexx Ikenna Ekubo-Okwaraeke. After a brief but courageous battle, Alexx passed away at Evercare Hospital due to complications arising from advanced metastatic kidney cancer,” the statement read in part.
The family described his final days as marked by strength and quiet endurance, saying he held on to hope even during his most difficult moments.
“He bore his pain with remarkable strength, unwavering faith, and enduring hope, believing that one day his testimony would be shared with the world,” they said.
They have since requested privacy as they mourn and prepare for funeral arrangements, noting that further details will be shared later.
“During this deeply painful time, we humbly ask for privacy and prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul,” the family stated.
“Further details regarding funeral arrangements and other family matters will be communicated in due course. We sincerely thank everyone for the love, support, prayers, and understanding extended to the family.”
