Wanja Nyarari credits mentor she met in USA for connecting her to DP Kindiki
By Steve Ireri, January 25, 2026Social media personality Wanja Nyarari has shared the unique story of how she became friends with Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, explaining that it all began through a female mentor she met in the United States.
In a post on her Facebook page on Sunday, January 25, 2026, Wanja described how she was introduced to Mary Wanja Matu, a prominent businesswoman managing renal units across Africa, by Richard Ngatia, President of the East Africa Chambers of Commerce.
“I met His Excellency the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya, Prof. Kithure Kindiki, through his dear sister and supporter, Mary Wanja Matu, a woman who has truly become a mother and mentor to me. Mary and I met in Washington DC, in the USA, where I was introduced to her by Richard Ngatia, the President of the East Africa Chambers of Commerce,” she wrote.

Wanja said Mary immediately recognised her potential, ambition, and determination, and told her she would act as a mother figure.
She recalled that Mary encouraged her to accompany her on international trips, paid for her business class travel, and deliberately positioned her in influential spaces where she could meet presidents and other global leaders.
“From the very first encounter, Mary saw my potential, my drive, and my determination. She saw my aggressiveness in purpose, and she liked it. And truly, God gave me a mother I could cry to. From the moment I met Mary, and to this day, she consistently tells me, “You must accompany me on my international trips.” She is not a social media person, but she believes strongly in exposure and positioning. She still pays for my business class travel, takes me with her to whichever country she is travelling to, and intentionally places me in influential spaces, introducing me to presidents and global leaders across the world,” she wrote.
Personal-level support
Wanja revealed that Mary also supported her on a personal level.
She said that when she was building her house in Nairobi’s ghetto, Mary actively contributed to the project, ensuring deliveries of cement and other materials while providing ongoing encouragement.
Wanja added that Mary regularly sent her sermons and spiritual guidance to help her remain focused and motivated.
“Mary has been, and continues to be, a constant support system in my life. When I was building my house in the ghetto, she pushed the process firmly, encouraged me to keep going, and chipped in generously. Sometimes, I would simply get a call telling me, “There is a truck that has delivered cement.” That is how real her support was. Because of her encouragement and involvement, the house was completed,” she added.
Through her relationship with Mary, Wanja explained, she was introduced to Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.
She said the connection with the Deputy President and his family went beyond formalities, with the Kindiki family providing support during her personal challenges.
Wanja specifically highlighted that she received Ksh500,000 from the Deputy President following the death of her mother figure, which gave her peace and confidence while organising her memorial.
“During the most difficult moment of my life, I received KSh500,000 from the Deputy President, He was to attend our candle lighting for my dear sister but got held up in Meru. That support came exactly when I needed it. It gave me peace and confidence that I would give my sister a truly befitting send-off,” she wrote.
