‘Vampire Diaries’ star Candice King marries actor Steven Krueger in low-key ceremony

Vampire Diaries star Candice King and fellow actor Steven Krueger have tied the knot, as reported by Vogue on Sunday, April 5, 2026.
The couple exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony in Nashville, Tennessee, just as they prepared to welcome their first child together. Originally planning a larger fall 2026 wedding, the couple adjusted their plans after learning of King’s pregnancy.
The ceremony took place at The Chapel at High Point Farm, attended only by close family. Krueger shared with Vogue, “We had 15 people in total, including Candice’s daughters and my two nieces. And it was perfect.” King added, “The most stressful part was making sure the family felt taken care of and could get from point A to point B, whether you’re eloping with 15 guests or managing a crowd of 200.” Krueger detailed.
Love Story and proposal
King, 38, and Krueger, 36, are best known for their roles as human-turned-vampires on CW’s The Vampire Diaries and its spinoff, The Originals.
Their off-screen romance began while working together on The Originals, and they made it Instagram official in December 2023. Krueger proposed in May 2025, shortly after King’s 38th birthday.
The wedding included King’s daughters, Florence and Josephine, from her previous marriage to Joe King, guitarist of The Fray.
King shared the excitement of blending their families and expecting a new baby. “We’ve known the news for a while now, and it’s been such a joyful experience getting to surprise and share our happy news with friends and family,” King told People in December 2025. “We’re due in May, close to my birthday, which would be the best gift ever!”
For her special day, King balanced bridal elegance with comfort for her baby bump, joking about the challenge of finding the perfect dress.
Hair and makeup were done by Tarryn Feldman, giving her a simple yet radiant look. Krueger noted that their priorities were “photos, flowers, and food,” and the couple was thrilled with how smoothly their intimate celebration unfolded.
