Gor Mahia coach Charles Akonnor expressed confidence that his charges are ready for the 2026 FKF Super Cup clash against Tusker FC. The reigning league champions will face the FKF Cup winners in the season curtain-raiser on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at Nyayo National Stadium.

Ahead of the clash, the Ghanaian manager described their opponents as a side that has consistently given them problems, stressing that his team must be at their best.

“They are a team that has given us problems. In our first match, we won, but the game did not go as we intended, and we struggled against them. We then lost to them in the second leg,” Akonnor said.

However, he expressed optimism that his side is in a good place after a bustling offseason schedule preparing for the league kickoff.

He noted that their pre-season sessions revealed several areas to readjust before facing Julien Mette’s side: “It’s a new season and a new era. We had good preparation, and we believe we are in a better position to win. We look forward to building on what we showed in our matches against Migori Youth.
