‘Tuone kama uko Kadi’ – Allans Ademba dares Ruto to schedule general elections in 10 weeks

By , March 22, 2026

Photojournalist Allans Ademba has issued a bold challenge to President William Ruto, daring him to schedule general elections in just 10 weeks.

Ademba’s Sunday, March 22, 2026, statement comes amid growing youth engagement in voter registration, which he says has reached unprecedented levels.

“Mr President, please call a general election in 10 weeks, TUONE KAMA UKO KADI,” Abemba dared Ruto.

Highlighting the surge in voter registration, Ademba pointed to Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, where 994 students were registered in a single day over the weekend.

Using these figures as a benchmark, he estimated that with an average of 1,000 new voters registering daily per constituency, Kenya could add approximately 290,000 voters per day across the country’s 290 constituencies.

“Masinde Muliro University registered 994 in a single day. (on a Weekend) Let’s assume an average of 1000 newly registered voters per constituency registration centre. (daily) 1000 voters by 290 constituencies = 290, 000 (newly registered voters daily) 290, 000 voters by 5 days of the week = 1, 450, 000 (newly registered weekly) 1,450,000 voters by 4 weeks = 5,800,000 (in one Monthly) And by 8 weeks, it’s 11,600,000.”

Additionally, the photojournalist noted that the youth, through the movement, are on track to achieve the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) target of registered voters in just one month.

“We are achieving the IEBC 5.3 million registered voters in one month,” he noted.

Ruto on Niko Kadi

Ademba’s dare comes hours after Ruto hopped into the Niko Kadi campaign, announcing that his administration is fully prepared for the 2027 general elections during his four-day development tour in the Nyanza region.

Na mimi nataka kuwaambia tuko tayari na tuko kadi kama manataka hiyo tuko kadi tayari. We are ready for you when the time comes,” Ruto stated.

Niko Kadi challenge

The Niko Kadi Challenge, a youth-led movement, has taken centre stage online, with young people rallying each other to register as voters and take ownership of their future.

If you have spent any time online recently, on TikTok, X, Instagram, or even WhatsApp, you have probably come across the phrase ‘Niko kadi.’

The challenge led by Ademba has moved numbers, winning the hearts of dozens of Kenyans of all walks of life after successfully mobilising hundreds of first-time Gen Z voters to register as voters.

Ademba, who has been running the #TukoKadi online campaign, a digital mobilisation programme aimed at registering en masse for the 2027 General Elections, on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, chaperoned hundreds of Kasarani residents to register as voters at the IEBC centre, within the D.O’s offices in Kasarani sub-county.

Across various digital spaces in Kenya, Niko Kadi is used as shorthand for being ready or prepared, and increasingly, for being registered to vote.
