Tiktoker Geoffrey reveals he lives in single room in Germany, warns against fake standards
By Steve Ireri, December 14, 2025Germany-based Kenyan TikToker Geoffrey has revealed that he lives in a single room in the European country because he is cautious about setting fake standards and wants to maintain financial discipline.
Speaking during a TikTok live on Saturday, December 13, 2025, Geoffrey explained that his living arrangements are deliberate, enabling him to manage bills efficiently, save money, and continue supporting long-term projects, including completing the construction of a house for his mother.
“I live in this single room so I can manage my bills easily, save money, and continue building a house for my mother,” he said.
Geoffrey told his followers that even before attaining celebrity status, he had prioritised practicality over appearances.
He recalled that when he was in Kenya and unwell or financially constrained, he would rent a simple mabati house for just Ksh1,500 per month.
“Stop showing off with houses you cannot afford. When I was in Kenya and unwell, I used to rent a simple mabati house for Ksh1,500 per month. Why spend on an expensive house you cannot manage?” he said.
He used this experience to question why many people choose to rent expensive houses they cannot afford, describing such decisions as unsustainable and potentially harmful to financial stability.
He gave specific examples to emphasise his point, stating that a person earning Ksh50,000 per month should not rent a house costing Ksh15,000 per month.
“Be humble and avoid greed. Do not rent a Ksh10,000 house you cannot afford. Even if you earn Ksh50,000 a month, you should not stay in a house where rent is Ksh15,000. After rent, groceries, transport, and other obligations, you are left with very little for savings or projects,” Geoffrey said.

He explained that after paying rent, groceries, transport, and other essential expenses, there is very little left for savings or additional projects.
According to him, stretching one’s income to maintain an extravagant lifestyle often leaves insufficient funds for school fees, bills, or personal investments, which can create financial strain over time.
“You could struggle with school fees or other responsibilities. Faking standards is dangerous, and it only creates unnecessary financial pressure,” Geoffrey added.
Speaking about his current lifestyle, Geoffrey said that even as a social media celebrity, he continues to live modestly. He elaborated on his dietary choices, noting that he often eats githeri and ugali rather than more expensive meals because he has made a conscious decision to limit expenditure.
“Even now, despite my celebrity status, when I am in Kenya and life is challenging, I will still stay in a mabati house. Here in Germany, I live in a single room. You see the kind of life I have, so why brand yourself with an expensive lifestyle you cannot afford? That is also why I often eat githeri and ugali every day instead of meat or other expensive foods, it is a conscious decision to deny myself luxuries for a greater goal,” Geoffrey said.
