Surreal: Beyoncé describes Met Gala 2026 experience after making a gleaming return
Beyoncé described her return to the Met Gala 2026 as a special moment, saying it felt “surreal” to attend alongside her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.
The singer stepped onto the red carpet on May 4, 2026, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, joined by her husband, Jay-Z, for what is widely known as fashion’s biggest night.
She explained during a red carpet interview that sharing the experience with her daughter made it even more meaningful. She said the moment stood out because of Blue Ivy’s presence and how she carried herself during the event. She added that it was a proud moment as a parent.

“It feels surreal because my daughter is here,” Beyoncé said as quoted by USA Today.
“She looks so beautiful. It’s incredible to be able to share it with her, and I think she looks incredible,” she added.
Beyoncé arrived in a silver gown covered in embellishments, designed by Olivier Rousteing. She completed the look with a matching headpiece and a feathery jacket. Blue Ivy appeared in a cream gown paired with a matching jacket and dark shades, while Jay-Z kept it simple in a black tuxedo.
Return after a decade away
This appearance marked Beyoncé’s first time attending the Met Gala in ten years. She last walked the carpet in 2016 during the “Manus x Machina” themed event, where she wore a nude Givenchy Haute Couture gown. Over the years, she has built a strong presence at the gala with several appearances.

She has attended the event multiple times since making her debut in 2008. Her past appearances include the years 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016, with many of those looks featuring designs from the fashion house Givenchy.
Beyoncé’s return comes after a period of limited public appearances. She is known for keeping her personal life private and often communicates through her music and carefully chosen moments in the spotlight.
“It feels surreal because my daughter is here,” she said again during the interview.
The 2026 appearance not only marked her return to the event but also highlighted a family moment on one of fashion’s biggest stages.
