Size 8 reveals why Christians should never boast about being powerful intercessors

Gospel singer Linet Munyali, popularly known as Size 8, has cautioned believers against boasting about their abilities as intercessors, saying they need to recognise that spiritual power comes solely from God’s grace and not from praying.

Speaking in a video shared on Facebook on Sunday, December 14, 2025, the singer who doubles as a minister of the gospel reflected on the role of grace in prayer, fasting, and spiritual life, highlighting that even the most devoted acts of worship are ineffective without divine enablement.

“And everyone needs to understand this: if you are watching me from wherever you are, your life cannot be what it is now without grace. Some of you may tell me that you pray a lot, fast often, and read the Bible. But who gives you the ability to fast?” she said.

She told her followers that some people may pray for long hours or fast rigorously, yet it is grace that allows them to do so. According to her, without God’s grace, a believer cannot even maintain a single hour of prayer or approach God effectively.

“Who gives you the strength to pray? Even if you spend long hours in prayer, do not boast, because without God’s grace, you could not even stay for one hour in that prayer,” Size 8 added.

The ‘Mateke’ hitmaker stressed that grace is the foundation that makes prayer possible, explaining that it was made manifest to humanity through Jesus Christ.

She warned that boasting about long hours of intercession or spiritual discipline is misplaced, as it overlooks the essential role of God’s enabling power.

“Secondly, without God’s grace, you cannot even appear before Him. His grace was made manifest to us through His Son, Jesus Christ, and it is that grace that opens the doorway to being born again. So how can you pray in Jesus’ name without grace? You cannot boast that you pray for hours and therefore receive results. Prayer is important, I love it, but when you finish praying, be humble and immediately thank the Lord for His grace,” she said.

She further elaborated on the importance of humility, urging believers to acknowledge God immediately after prayer.

She noted that prayers could be interrupted by challenges such as sudden bad news or personal struggles, demonstrating that prayer alone is not a guarantee of outcomes without grace.

“You could start praying and get a headache, or receive bad news, like learning your son has fallen, and your prayer might be interrupted. That is why humility and reliance on grace are essential in every act of prayer,” the singer said.
