Shiquo Wa Hiistyles says she has never located her mother’s grave despite years of searching

Popular city businesswoman Shiquo Wa Hiistyles has opened up about an emotional and ongoing struggle to locate her mother’s final resting place, revealing that she has been searching for the grave for several years without success.

Speaking on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, after visiting a cemetery she believes her mother was buried in 2011, Shiquo said the search has become a recurring experience, noting that she has made multiple attempts over time to identify the exact gravesite.

She explained that despite frequent visits to the burial grounds, including what she described as her sixth or seventh attempt, she has still not been able to locate the grave.

“We have been here at this cemetery searching for my mother’s grave, and this is not the first time. It is like the sixth or seventh time, because we always pass by this cemetery, but today we came inside to look properly,” she said.

During her latest visit, she and her companions walked through the cemetery once again in search of the site, but were unsuccessful.

“She was buried here in 2011, but we have not been able to find the grave,” she added.

Shiquo expressed emotional reflection during the visit, noting the difficulty of repeatedly returning without finding closure. She described the experience as deeply personal, highlighting the emotional weight attached to not being able to identify her mother’s resting place after so many years.

While at the cemetery, she also reflected on broader life themes, observing the contrast between the living world and those laid to rest. She noted that those buried there are free from life’s struggles, including illness, financial pressure, and daily stress, while the living continue to face ongoing challenges.

“When I was here, I reflected on life and how those who are buried here are at peace. They do not know anything about the cost of living, fuel prices, sickness, or stress,” she said.

She further reflected on the importance of appreciating available support systems, stating that people often overlook the help around them, including family members and personal opportunities, while focusing on difficulties.

Shiquo encouraged a perspective of gratitude and resilience, emphasising that individuals have more options for support than they often acknowledge, including relatives and personal strength, rather than dwelling solely on hardships.

“I also thought about how we often ask for peace and calm, but it is already here in abundance. At the same time, we sometimes lose hope, yet we have many options we ignore. You may have an uncle, a sister, or people around you who can help you, and you also have your own strength and life. We have more options than we think, instead of just complaining,” Shiquo said.
