Ruth Kimuyu, a Kikuyu woman living in Mombasa, has opened up about a series of terrifying and unexplained experiences she says have plagued her almost six years after leaving a 20-year period of living as a lesbian.

Speaking during an interview with a local radio station on Friday, December 5, 2025, she recounted that quitting the lifestyle brought persistent and strange events that disrupted her daily life and affected her family.

“When you become a lesbian, there are consequences that you suffer. As you know, in all things there are consequences. For me, the consequences were many and a bit strange. I never used to even stay at my place because of weird attacks happening here and there,” Ruth shared.

Kimuyu described how, since leaving, routine journeys became fraught with delays and mechanical problems. She recalled a trip from Mombasa to Nairobi that would normally take a few hours, but instead took three days due to repeated vehicle issues.

She attributed these disruptions to what she describes as a spiritual backlash linked to her previous lifestyle.

“Every time I boarded a vehicle, I would never reach my final destination. For example, when I was coming from Mombasa to Nairobi, I had to use three different cars, and it took three days to arrive because there was a demonic thing happening. Sometimes, even accidents would occur. I have been hunted,” she added.

Her home, she said, has been the site of numerous eerie incidents. Coins would fall on the tiles for no apparent reason, clothing would disappear from her balcony only to reappear later, and unexplained stains resembling blood appeared in her living space.

“Even in my house, we never have peace. Strange things happen with my child, like hearing coins fall on the tiles when there are none, finding my clothes missing from the clothesline, and sometimes seeing traces of blood on the balcony. Neighbours have witnessed some of these things. The balcony was even painted in blood one day before I came for this show,” she shared.

During the two decades she lived as a lesbian, Kimuyu said she held dominant roles in relationships, often assuming responsibilities typically associated with men.

She also described having a role in recruiting others into the lifestyle, which she believes amplified the spiritual consequences she now experiences.

She explained that leaving this life meant abandoning certain assignments, which she says triggered the ongoing disruptions.

“What I was in was like a cult, though not exactly a cult; it was more of a demonic spirit. When I quit lesbianism, it meant I stopped certain assignments. My work had been to recruit lesbians, so when I stopped, the devil took revenge. Sometimes, even with doors closed, animals like cats would get inside my home. I saw someone enter my house at midnight who was not human, and from that day, my son fell ill,” Ruth added.

Kimuyu recounted that these experiences have been persistent and sometimes frightening, creating challenges in maintaining her household and personal well-being.

She described the incidents as demonic or spiritual in nature, noting that the disruptions have affected her day-to-day life, her home environment, and her family.

“I had been a lesbian for 20 years. I was the dominant one, playing the role of a man in relationships. Leaving that life has brought consequences I continue to face every day,” she said.
