Rema and Katy Perry among big names for FIFA World Cup 2026 opening ceremony
Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has announced a star-studded line-up for the FIFA World Cup 2026 opening ceremony, set to take place across three countries.
FIFA announced on Friday night, May 9, 2026, that global stars Rema and Katy Perry will be among the headline performers at the historic opening ceremony.
The ceremony is designed to merge football, music, and global entertainment in what FIFA describes as one of the most ambitious World Cup opening events to date.
Global star line-up
Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, LISA, Rema, and Tyla are among the artistes confirmed to perform in Los Angeles.
The line-up brings together Afrobeats, pop, hip-hop, K-pop, and Latin music acts in a global entertainment showcase.
Rema’s inclusion highlights Afrobeats’ growing international reach, while Katy Perry adds major global pop appeal to the ceremony.

For the first time in FIFA World Cup history, three opening ceremonies across Mexico, Canada and the United States will launch a shared continental celebration, with the main event set for Los Angeles on Friday, June 12 2026.
The format is designed to create a shared continental launch, connecting fans across North America in one coordinated celebration.
FIFA says the approach reflects unity, diversity, and a global fan experience.
Los Angeles takes centre stage
The main ceremony will be held at Los Angeles Stadium on 12 June 2026, starting 90 minutes before kick-off at 16:30 local time.
Fans will also experience live entertainment, performances, and pre-match activations before the official opening match.

The ceremony is being positioned as a fusion of sport and entertainment.
Produced with Balich Wonder Studio, it will feature live performances, large-scale visuals, and storytelling built around the FIFA World Cup Trophy.
The tournament will feature 104 matches across 16 host cities, concluding with the final on Friday,July 19 2026, at New York New Jersey Stadium.
