Rasta man rescued by Mosiria reunites with mother after 25 years
By Valerian Khakayi, August 14, 2026A man popularly known as “Rasta Man”, who was rescued from the streets of Nairobi by Geoffrey Mosiria, has reunited with his mother after nearly 25 years apart.
Mosiria shared the emotional update on Friday, August 14, 2026, while reflecting on the progress of two men he previously rescued from the streets, including Rasta Man and another man he referred to as “Tree Man”.
According to Mosiria, he rescued Rasta Man outside the Railways Golf Club, next to Uhuru Park, where he had been living on the streets.
Mother and son reunion
Additionally, Mosiria revealed that the reunion was particularly emotional because Rasta Man’s mother had lost contact with him for years and believed that her son had died when he was only 15 years old.
The two were eventually reunited after nearly 25 years, giving the family an opportunity to reconnect after decades apart.
“Rasta Man also worked briefly as a security officer at Oyster Bay before deciding to return to his village to be with his mother. His mother had lost contact with him and believed that her son had died when he was just 15 years old. They were reunited after nearly 25 years,” Mosiria revealed.
Tree Man rebuilds his life
Mosiria also provided an update on another man he rescued, popularly known as “Tree Man”, who had been sleeping on top of a tree along Jogoo Road.
Following the intervention, Tree Man has managed to rebuild his life and is now working at Sialkot Motors, where he sells cars.
Sharing the two stories, Mosiria highlighted the impact of giving people experiencing difficult circumstances an opportunity to start again.
“These stories remind us that sometimes all someone needs is a little help, hope and a second chance,” Mosiria said.
Rasta Man’s reunion with his mother and Tree Man’s progress in the motor vehicle industry offer two examples of how support can help people who have experienced homelessness begin rebuilding their lives.
For Rasta Man, the reunion has also restored a family connection that had been lost for nearly a quarter of a century, with his mother having spent years believing her son was dead.
