Pastor Kanyari declares Kasarani MP bid for 2027 elections
By William Muthama, April 12, 2026Vocal preacher Victor Kanyari has officially declared his intention to contest for the Kasarani Member of Parliament seat in the 2027 general election, marking a sharp shift from his earlier plan to vie for the Njiru Ward MCA position.
The announcement, made during a Sunday church service on April 12, 2025, came after he was seen in a video engaging his congregants and asking them to choose between the MCA seat and the Kasarani parliamentary race.
The congregation appeared to back the MP option, influencing his final position on the matter.
Parliamentary ambition
Kanyari said he would align himself with the wishes of his followers, signalling a full pivot to the parliamentary race.
He framed the decision as a collective direction taken with his supporters.
The preacher later reinforced his ambition in a public message, making his intentions clear to Kasarani residents.

“Kasarani Constituency, get ready; in 2027 I’m vying for MP Kasarani,” he wrote.
He used the message to rally support and signal readiness for the 2027 contest.
Reason for bid
Kanyari also laid out his motivation for entering the race, accusing current leaders of failing residents.
“Nasimama na watu wa Kasarani kwa sababu viongozi ambao wako hawafanyi kazi,” he said, framing his bid as a response to dissatisfaction with leadership in the constituency.
In earlier campaign-style visits to Njiru Ward, Kanyari had outlined a grassroots-focused agenda targeting education and household welfare.

“Nikichaguliwa kuwa mweshimiwa, hutawai lipia mtoto wako school fees,” he said during one of his engagements with residents.
He also pledged to provide school uniforms for needy pupils and distribute basic food aid, including maize flour, to vulnerable families as part of his community outreach.
