Comedian and content creator Oga Obinna has welcomed what he describes as a growing culture of accountability in the country, saying Kenyans are increasingly willing to ask hard questions and speak openly about sensitive issues.

Obinna made the remarks while commenting on the public reaction that followed the death and burial of former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo. He noted that the mood at Jirongo’s funeral showed a shift in public attitude, with people openly demanding answers and justice instead of remaining silent.

“I love where the country is going. Nowadays unakaa tu hivi watu wanakuambia kwa macho yako. Jirongo’s funeral was something else. I like the pressure. Watu wanaambiana ukweli penye iko. Lakini ile ni Ksh100 million ilipeanwa ni kama ni mboga ivo,” Oga Obinna stated.

Despite the announcement of official investigations, Jirongo’s death sparked widespread debate, with family members, political leaders and members of the public calling for a thorough and transparent inquest.

During his burial in Kakamega County, several leaders urged authorities to go beyond routine traffic investigations and address lingering questions surrounding the incident to restore public confidence.
