Octopizzo: Niko kadi does not endorse any individual or political agenda
By Paulette Mboga, March 21, 2026Kenyan hip‑hop star Octopizzo has said that the Niko Kadi initiative does not endorse any individual or political agenda, calling for focus as the campaign gains momentum among young people.
He spoke while responding to concerns raised about the movement on Saturday, March 21, 2026.

He explained that the initiative should not be misunderstood, noting that its main goal is to encourage voter registration. He said distractions could weaken the impact of the message being pushed.
In a message on X, he said, “What exactly is being ruined? Let’s remain focused on the goal; we cannot afford distractions or a scattered, reactive approach at this moment.”
He said that there are clear attempts to provoke and mislead people about the initiative. He explained that such actions could shift attention away from the main purpose of encouraging participation.
“It’s clear there are attempts to provoke and mislead.”

He made the remarks in response to activist Hanifa Farsafi, who had raised concerns by saying politicians ruin things. He explained that the initiative remains independent and should not be linked to political individuals.
The musician who is set to headline one of the Niko Kadi initiatives in Kibera, said, “Support for the #NikoKadi initiative does not equate to endorsing any individual or political agenda.”
Understanding the niko kadi initiative
The Niko Kadi initiative was started by young Kenyans on social media to encourage those who have not registered as voters to do so. The movement has continued to grow across different platforms.

Activists, including Willie Oeba and Allans Ademba, have been part of the effort to promote the campaign. He explained that on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, they camped in Kasarani, where more than 600 people registered as voters.
The initiative first gained traction on TikTok before spreading to other platforms. The hashtag #NikoKadi is now being used widely to push more young people to register.
The campaign mixes humour with civic education to reach more people, helping rally many Kenyans to take part in the ongoing voter registration exercise.
