Blogger Njambi Fever has spoken out against people who ignore guests while spending time on their phones.

On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, she says one of her biggest pet peeves is someone who isn’t “present.”

“Sijui nita explain aje. Like, let’s say you have a visitor and you’re not even talking to them, you’re GLUED to your phone,” Njambi explains.

She adds that this behaviour gives off the energy of not wanting to be there.

“Giving ile energy ya ‘I don’t want to be here’… What happened to eye contact? Conversation? Warmth?” Njambi questions.

She emphasises that even small gestures of attention matter when someone visits.

The importance of being emotionally present

Njambi warns that ignoring visitors can hurt relationships.

“Yaani hii kitu huniboooo. Just acknowledge people,” she says.

According to her, emotional presence doesn’t require grand gestures.

“Don’t do too much, emotional presence kidogo tu,” she explains. Small gestures, such as maintaining eye contact or offering a simple greeting, can make guests feel welcome.

She notes that being glued to a phone signals disrespect, even if unintentional.

She points out that many people forget how important these moments are. A phone can easily distract someone from the person in front of them, but Njambi stresses that attention is key. Her message is simple: give people your presence. Acknowledging visitors is not hard, but ignoring them can hurt relationships.

Njambi Fever encourages everyone to be mindful when receiving guests. She says the little things, like speaking or making eye contact, can make a big difference.

Her advice is straightforward and relatable, especially in a world where phones often take attention away from people around us.

Njambi Fever’s message is, put the phone down, look up, and be there for the people who visit you.

She concludes, “Just acknowledge people. Don’t do too much, emotional presence kidogo tu.”
