Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service Geoffrey Mosiria has weighed in on the multifaceted faces of gender-based violence (GBV).

Citing a recent case in which a man was said to have been assaulted by his lover, Mosiria emphasised that violence should never happen to anyone and should never be ignored.

In a statement on his social media platforms on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, Mosiria noted that violence of any nature, regardless of the gender of the victim, should not be tolerated.

Ni uchungu sana…Such violence should never happen to anyone in our society,” Mosiria stated as he gave his take.

Men suffer in silence

He called for the matter to be handled firmly without interference amid claims that the wheels of justice were taking time to turn as the victim continues to battle for his life.

“Given the gravity of these claims, I call upon the police to act swiftly, ensure proper investigations, and allow the justice system to take its full course. No one should be above the law, and due process must be followed transparently and fairly. I also urge the Gender-Based Violence department and relevant agencies to handle this matter firmly and without interference.

According to the head of customer service in Nairobi County, men experience gender-based violence but suffer in silence.

“Gender-Based Violence is not selective. Men, too, suffer in silence. Empowering the boy child does not compete with empowering the girl child it ensures balance and justice for all. Violence has no gender, crime has no gender, and the law must have no gender. This is not about emotions, it is about accountability,” he added.

Recent case

Mosiria referenced a recent case in which a young man was left battling for his life in a hospital after a violent confrontation.

The lady in question is said to have poured hot water on the man during the altercation that was sparked by claims that the man was still in touch with his ex-girlfriend.
