Ngaruiya Junior narrates what drove him to intervene in Mike Rua’s son’s burial plans
By Steve Ireri, March 20, 2026Aspiring Subukia MP and singer Ngaruiya Junior has opened up on what led him to step in and support Mugithi icon Mike Rua following the death of his son, Fredrick Muiruri.
Speaking during the burial ceremony in Igegania, Gatundu North, on Friday, March 20, 2026, Ngaruiya explained that he attended and addressed mourners not just as a leader, but as a member of the burial committee that had been formed to organise the send-off.
He noted that his decision to join the committee came after Mike Rua personally reached out to him with concerns about the preparations.
“I want to thank everyone who agreed to come and stand with this family after losing their son. I also want to thank former CS Moses Kuria for coming to stand with this family, and I appreciate all the leaders who are here today,” he said.
According to Ngaruiya, Mike Rua had expressed fears that the burial arrangements might not meet the standards he had envisioned for his son’s final send-off.
Moved by the concern, Ngaruiya said he agreed to step in and work alongside the family and other stakeholders to ensure everything was well organised.
“I also want to clarify that I am speaking as a member of the burial committee because when Mike Rua called me and expressed concern that the send-off for his son might not meet the standards he had anticipated, I agreed to come through and join in the planning,” he said.

He revealed that since joining the burial committee, the planning process had improved significantly, with members working together smoothly to deliver a befitting ceremony. Ngaruiya also commended Mike Rua for trusting him and allowing him to be part of the process during such a difficult time.
“Mike Rua can attest that since then, we have been working very well together. I also appreciate him for that,” he added.
During his address, Ngaruiya took time to thank various leaders and individuals who showed up to support the family, highlighting the importance of unity in moments of grief. He specifically acknowledged former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria for attending the burial and standing with the bereaved family.
He also expressed gratitude to the burial committee for creating an inclusive environment that allowed leaders and well-wishers to contribute support. Ngaruiya noted that everyone who was approached for assistance responded positively, which he said played a key role in ensuring the success of the arrangements.
“I also want to thank the burial committee. May God bless you because you allowed us to work together with all the leaders and offered support to everyone we reached out to. Everyone we called was given a chance to support. May God bless you all,” he added.
