Naserianne Sintako has recounted a narrow escape after a fuel tanker exploded into flames along Nairobi’s Southern Bypass.
She said she and others passed through a tunnel moments before the accident happened. According to her, the incident unfolded within seconds, turning a normal journey into a terrifying experience.
She said she had just passed the tunnel when disaster struck behind them.

She explained that only seconds after they passed, a truck toppled and went up in flames, leaving her shaken by how close they were to danger. Naserianne described the moment as one filled with shock and gratitude.

“We passed the tunnel, seconds later, a truck toppled and went up in flames,” she said. She explained that the experience made her reflect on how fragile life can be during everyday activities like travel.
She said she could not stop thinking about the people who may have been affected by the fire.
“Grace upon grace,” she said, while expressing relief that they were unharmed. She added that her thoughts and prayers were with those living or working near the area.
