Muhoozi: Uganda is ready to assist Israel and will retaliate with missiles if Iran hits us

Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has stated that Uganda is ready to support Israel amid its ongoing conflict with Iran.

Taking to his X account in a series of tweets on Thursday, March 26, 2026, Muhoozi wrote that all Israel needs to do is to ask, and Uganda will swing into action.

“If Israel needs help, it only needs to ask. Their Ugandan brothers are ready to assist,” he wrote.

The son of Uganda’s long-serving leader, Yoweri Museveni, noted that Uganda is ready for possible consequences, including attacks.

Uganda to retaliate if Tehran hits

He added that should Tehran hit Uganda with missiles, then the East African nation will use its own missiles to retaliate.

“If Tehran dares to hit us with missiles. We shall retaliate with our own missiles,” he stated.

The conflict that has dragged on for nearly a month has claimed several casualties on both sides, including senior leaders of the regime in Iran.

Despite his high rank in the military, Muhoozi’s online activities have been controversial, with remarks that frequently spark diplomatic tiffs.

Case in point is on February 4, 2026, when he demanded Ksh128.5 billion from the United States of America, asserting that the money, which he claimed is owed to the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), must be paid.

“I still demand $ 1 billion from the USA for the UPDF annually. And they will pay it,” Muhoozi stated.

Deleting tweets and an apology that failed to calm the storm

Although he later pulled down the tweet and apologised, the US Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Jim Risch called him out stating that the general had crossed the red line.

“The president’s son, and likely successor, cannot just delete tweets and issue hollow apologies. The U.S. will not tolerate this level of instability and recklessness when American personnel, U.S. interests, and innocent lives in the region are at stake,” Risch declared.

Muhoozi responded by dismissing Risch, daring the Senator to proceed with the reevaluation.

“My name is not ‘Commander @mkainerugaba ‘. My name is General Muhoozi Kainerugaba. What ‘Red line’ have I crossed according to you? You can re-evaluate whatever you want as far as our co-operation is concerned, but you will never DEMEAN and DEGRADE us. You will never make us your slaves,” he said.
