Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, has appealed to the public to help identify a woman whom he had a rare encounter with in Nairobi CBD claiming to be an MP’s wife.

In a statement on his official X account on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, Mosiria revealed that during the rare encounter, the lady seemed distressed and in need of mental support.

“Yesterday in the Nairobi CBD, I met a distressed lady who, from my observation, urgently needs mental health support. When I gently asked where she comes from, she emotionally told me that she misses her husband, whom she claims is MP Ndindi,” Mosiria said.

Mosiria went on narrating the encounter and how the lady explained to him who his spouse was, referring to a well-known legislator.

“It was clear that she is not well, and her story showed deep confusion and emotional pain. I was once told that when someone develops a mental illness, the memory can freeze on the person they admired most at the time their condition began,” Mosiria added.

After a deep talk with the lady, Mosiria explained his plan to take her to Mathari Mental Hospital for proper care, a plan that was short-lived when the woman disappeared upon realizing he was being taken there.

“That could explain why she kept referring to him so passionately. She first asked me for Ksh200 to buy food. I gave her Ksh100 to build trust as I quietly arranged for an ambulance to take her to Mathari Mental Hospital for proper care,” he added.

The escape

Mosiria explained, “Moments later, she demanded Ksh1,000, which I also gave her out of compassion. However, immediately after she realised I had called for medical help, she panicked and ran away before the ambulance arrived.”

“This broke my heart. She is clearly scared, vulnerable, and in urgent need of professional care not judgment, not neglect. I am appealing to anyone who may recognise her or know her family to help us locate them,” Mosiria noted.

Mosiria is now appealing to netizens to help trace her so she can be taken in for better care.

“Please let them know she was last seen in Nairobi CBD. I am actively looking for her so that I can help take her to Mathari Mental Hospital for treatment and protection,” he appealed.

“Mental illness is not a crime. It is a condition that needs care, love, and urgent action. Let us not ignore these silent cries in our streets,” Mosiria added.
