Celebrated Kenyan musician Purity Wambui, widely known as Miss P, has opened up about her approach to relationships, saying she has no issue dating a single father as long as the connection is right and the man’s personal character aligns with what she is looking for.

Speaking candidly with media personality Dr Ofweneke on Friday, May 8, 2026, Miss P explained that her focus is always on the individual first, not their past or circumstances.

She added that what matters most is a man’s emotional state and readiness for a relationship, rather than his history or past experiences.

“I first look at this man I have decided I want to be with; forget about the kids that are coming with him, him as an individual, before the kids, there is him. For me, I am looking at him first,” Miss P said.

“What is his state of mind as far as romance is concerned? What has he healed from, what has he experienced? What is he looking for? I’m not looking for history.”

According to Miss P, she does not believe in digging too much into someone’s past once she has chosen to move forward with them. Instead, she prefers to focus on who the person is in the present.

She noted that many relationships fail because partners become too fixated on each other’s history instead of building something new together.

“I am that kind of person; when I get to something new, I erase the past. One of the reasons why some relationships do not last is someone wanting to find out about the partner’s past; the past is in the past,” she explained.

Miss P emphasised that people evolve and should not be permanently defined by their previous mistakes or experiences.

“We cannot be the same person; we have grown. Of course, the past builds up the person we are today, and you cannot judge someone based on what they did in the past. We all make mistakes; everyone deserves a second chance,” she added.

For her, love is rooted in acceptance and fresh beginnings.

“Number one, everyone deserves love; everyone deserves a chance, and then this person may be ako na history fulani that I have looked back,” she added, noting that what truly matters is whether two people can build a healthy and present-focused relationship together.
