MC Jessy recalls working at salon as he reveals how Nameless changed his life

Kenyan comedian and media personality MC Jessy has shared a humorous and emotional throwback story from his early hustle days in Nairobi, revealing how music star Nameless unknowingly played a role in shaping his journey.

In a detailed narration shared on Facebook on Sunday, May 24, 2026, MC Jessy recalled a time when he struggled to make ends meet in Nairobi and ended up working at a salon owned by his long-time friend, where he was assigned small tasks, including washing clients’ hair after they had been styled.

He described the experience as part of his “pilka pilka” days of job hunting in the city, noting that life was not easy as he tried to survive through small gigs while building his career.

“So, this guy called “Nameless” is something else…

Jessy recounted how Nameless was one of the salon’s clients at the time, and how he often found himself interacting with the celebrated musician during his grooming sessions, including assisting in styling and washing his dreadlocks.

He humorously admitted that he sometimes avoided fully engaging in the work when Nameless was around, joking about the awkwardness of handling a superstar while still navigating his own struggles in life.

Na vile vile, katika hiyo mpango ya ‘young man trying to survive Nairobi,” nilikua pia nasupport Juvinaris kutwist watu dredi. Sasa… “Nameless” alikua client wetu wa dredi. Mimi nikiona tumekaribia kumaliza twisting, nahepa najifanya nimeenda choo ndio nisimuoshe… juu si “mumama wa Kiambu”  Lakini saa zingine nilikua napatikana offguard najipata nikimsugua dredi. Sikumind sana juu alikua anatoboka “kamia mbili” hivi,” he added.

The comedian further narrated how life in Nairobi was tough during that period, saying he only had a few outfits and was living a modest lifestyle while trying to build himself up.

He went on to describe Nameless as a major celebrity even at the time, noting how the musician’s style and confidence made him admire his success from a distance.

Lakini saa zingine nilikua napatikana offguard najipata nikimsugua dredi. Sikumind sana juu alikua anatoboka “kamia mbili” hivi  Hiyo time maisha ilikua inanichezea kalongolongo kidogo… Nilikua na T-shirt mbili: Moja ya “Kimbo”… na ingine ya “Safaricom.” Na jeans mbili za “Savco.” Ukijua “Savco,” unajua maisha ilikua inanipiga design gani 😭😂,” he wrote.

MC Jessy also recalled a moment when Nameless unexpectedly offered assistance by allowing him to pick clothes from his wardrobe for needy friends, a gesture he says left a lasting impression on him.

He said that one Sunday, he wore some of those clothes and walked into Uhuru Park feeling confident, with people assuming he had made it in life, despite still struggling behind the scenes.

Na Nameless mwenyewe alikua superstar proper! Luku alikua anapiga zingine mwecheche mpaka unaona poverty yako ikikusalimia kwa mbali  Siku moja akapigia Juvinaris simu akasema: “Bro, leo sikuji Tao. Kujeni home. Later niko na show.” Sisi hapo mpaka kwa Nameless. Kufika huko… tukapata “Wahu” ametupikia vipochopocho za Mrima proper! Tukajibonda kama watu hawajui next meal ni lini, then tukaingia kazi,” he added.
