Maureen Waititu calls out fake ads using her photos

Maureen Waititu has spoken out against fake advertisements using her photos, saying the misuse is based on lies and damages her brand.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, April 19, 2026, the content creator addressed the issue after months of seeing her images used to promote products she has never used. She explained that the situation has now gone too far.
“I always wonder how some people build businesses on lies and still expect to thrive,” Maureen Waititu said.
She explained that she had been receiving messages about a certain page using her photos. Maureen said she chose to ignore it at first, hoping it would stop. However, she noted that the activity continued and became impossible to overlook.

“For months, I’ve been receiving messages from my followers about a certain page using my photos to advertise their products,” she said.
Maureen added that the products being advertised are not ones she has ever used. She explained that from what she has seen, the page appears to rely on stolen content from other people as well. According to her, this makes the situation more serious.
“These are products I have never used, and from what I can see, they seem to rely on stolen content from other people’s work as well,” Maureen Waititu said.
Her stand on honesty and integrity
Maureen explained that her decision to speak out is about more than just photos. She said the issue touches on honesty and integrity, which she values. She added that it was important to clearly separate herself from any business she had never worked with.

“Because this is bigger than just photos being used without permission-it is about honesty and integrity,” she said.
She explained that the misuse is also misleading to people who know her weight loss journey. Maureen said it is unfair to discredit the real work and support behind her transformation. She added that such actions can confuse the public.
“It’s important for me to clearly disassociate myself from brands and businesses I have never worked with,” Maureen Waititu said.
Maureen further explained that the situation can damage a brand she has built over 10 years. She said it can break trust, mislead people, and harm her reputation. She added that it also undermines the authenticity she has maintained.
“So to the page involved: shame on you,” Maureen Waititu said.
