Karangu Muraya’s brother Paul Kariithi buried in emotional Murang’a ceremony

Facebook influencer Karangu Muraya’s brother, Paul Kariithi Muraya, has been buried in an emotional ceremony attended by celebrities, Kikuyu gospel singers, family members, and close friends in a ceremony held in Kagioni Village, Murang’a County.
The day started with emotional breakdowns at the Monalisa Montezuma Funeral Home, where Karangu lost his composure and nearly collapsed onto the coffin after viewing his late brother’s body.
In a video shared on Facebook on Wednesday, April 22, 2022, he is seen breaking into uncontrollable sobs and holding onto the black coffin for several minutes, as though offering a prayer over his brother’s life.
He then placed his head on the coffin and began wailing loudly, prompting members of the gospel community to hold him and gently lead him out of the mortuary.
Similar scenes were witnessed when other family members went to view the body, as they also started sobbing uncontrollably and clinging to the coffin in deep anguish.

The body was then loaded into a hearse and transported to Kagioni Village, where it was laid to rest.
Key individuals who attended the burial include Jesus Compassion Ministries founder Bishop Ben Kiengei, Priesthood Church founder Reverend JJ Gitahi, gospel singer Mary Lincoln, former President Ruto’s aide Moses Kuria, and gospel singer Ben Githae.
Other prominent Kikuyu celebrities who attended the funeral included gospel singer Charity Waruinu; gospel singer Njeru Thiga’s wife Ann Njambi; Bishop Kiengei’s wife Reverend Joy Benson; aspiring politician Kogi Investor, among others.
Untimely passing
Karangu Muraya’s brother passed away on April 14, 2026, after a prolonged struggle with injuries sustained in a road accident.
Paul’s death was the result of severe health complications following a road accident that occurred over a year earlier, on February 17, 2025.
The accident left him bedridden and required intensive medical care, with Karangu often updating his followers on the mounting hospital bills and the support received from available health insurances.

Despite numerous medical interventions and a resilient fourteen-month battle for recovery, Paul’s condition eventually deteriorated.
He passed away while undergoing treatment at Mathari Hospital in Nyeri. Karangu, a popular Kikuyu gospel singer and philanthropist, shared the news on social media, describing Paul as his “best friend” and a constant source of encouragement who maintained a positive spirit even while in a hospital bed.
