The rapper stated that the change was made after careful consideration of the situation surrounding the event. He did not give further details on whether a new date would be announced. The postponement adds to a growing list of disruptions affecting his recent shows.

“After much thought and consideration, it is my sole decision to postpone my show in Marseille, France, until further notice,” Kanye West said on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

Controversial public statements

The postponement comes at a time when West has faced strong criticism over past antisemitic remarks and controversial public statements. His actions have sparked backlash across different countries, leading to tighter scrutiny of his appearances abroad. Some events linked to him have already been cancelled or reviewed by authorities.

In Britain, officials blocked his entry following his public outbursts, leading to the cancellation of a major festival appearance he was scheduled to headline. UK leadership also described his involvement in events as concerning, which contributed to the cancellation decision.

These developments have impacted his European performance plans.

Reports from European officials indicate that discussions have taken place regarding possible restrictions on his performances in other countries. In France, authorities have also reviewed his planned appearances following local political pressure and public opposition. Some officials have openly questioned whether his concerts should proceed.

Local leaders in Marseille have previously opposed his presence in the city, citing concerns over messages linked to hate speech. One official stated that the city should not be used to promote division or extremist views. This added to the pressure surrounding his scheduled performance.

West has also faced criticism for releasing controversial music and merchandise in recent years, including material that was widely banned from streaming platforms. He later expressed regret for some of his actions, linking them to personal mental health struggles.

Despite this, his public image has continued to draw debate.
