Veteran radio presenter Jeridah Andayi has opened up about her struggles with perimenopause, saying the experience has made her miss her mother’s guidance.

On Friday, April 10, 2026, she explained that this stage of life has come with emotional and physical changes that feel difficult to handle alone. She said the absence of her mother has made the situation heavier.

She shared that at this point in her life, things feel more confusing than before. According to her, hormones and other issues have made it harder to understand what she is going through. She explained that she often wishes her mother were still around to help her make sense of it.

“At this age and stage of womanhood, when life feels heavier and a little more confusing ( because of hormones and issues ), I miss having my mum here to make sense of it all,” Jeridah Andayi said.

Missing everyday guidance

She said the feeling is not only about major life moments but also small, daily conversations. She explained that she misses being able to ask simple questions and get advice from her mother. According to her, those everyday talks now feel important.

“Not just for the big moments… but for the everyday ‘Mum, what do you think?’” Jeridah Andayi said.

Jeridah added that many people at her stage in life may feel the same way. She said there is often a quiet longing to go back to the comfort of having a mother’s presence. She explained that it is a feeling that grows stronger with time.

“I think a lot of us feel it around now— this quiet pull back to wanting our mums,” Jeridah Andayi said.

She also reflected on the importance of spending more time with parents while they are still present. She said many people may wish they had asked more questions or listened more carefully. According to her, those moments become valuable later in life.

Jeridah encouraged others to speak to their mothers more and ask questions, even the small ones. She explained that mothers have experience and understanding that can help guide their children. She said these conversations can offer comfort and direction.

“So go ahead, ask your mum everything. Even the silliest of questions. Ask her. She’s your mum. She knows. She’s lived it,” Jeridah Andayi said.
