Renowned Kenyan comedian Wilson Muirani Gathoni, popularly known as Jaymo Ule Msee, has said he is shocked by some of the hate comments he receives on social media.

Speaking to Alex Mwakideu on YouTube on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, he explained that he sometimes checks the profiles of people who leave abusive messages on his page and is surprised by who they are.

“I go to the hate comments on my page, sometimes I click on the profiles of the people, you see somebody is an elder in church,” he said.

He said what troubles him most is the contrast between who these people are in public and what they post online.

“But what they have written, bro,” Jaymo, who announced the decision to quit active politics, expressed disbelief.

Jaymo explained that having an opinion does not give anyone the right to insult others. He said people should be careful with their words online because comments can have lasting effects.

Views on online behaviour and judgment

Jaymo said many people use social media to release unresolved pain and trauma.

“People are sick, people have mental issues, and they have refused to heal,” he explained.

He added that such individuals often project their struggles onto others through hateful comments. He said this does not make it right and should not be encouraged.

He said people should avoid judging others based on personal choices.

“You should not judge them,” he explained.

Jaymo said he has chosen to speak openly about his life and decisions.

“Choice ya Jaymo mbona inakuuma?” he asked. He explained that he has gone public with his journey because he is proud of it.

“I have gone public with it because I am proud of it,” he said.

This comes after Jaymo Ule Msee converted to Islam last year in December. He became one of the latest Kenyan public figures to embrace Islam. In a post shared on his official Instagram account on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, Jaymo uploaded a video showing himself inside a mosque during the conversion process.

He expressed gratitude and peace, emphasising surrender to Allah as the foundation of his transformation.

“Today I begin again. A healed heart, a renewed soul, and a life surrendered to Allah. From this moment forward, my steps are guided by faith, service, and purpose. Alhamdulillah,” he wrote.
