Jaymo Decin says one wife is enough, dismisses claims men are naturally polygamous

Comedian Jaymo Decin has weighed in on the long-standing debate around relationships and polygamy, firmly stating that he believes one partner is enough and dismissing the notion that men are naturally inclined to have multiple partners.

Speaking during a quick-fire interview with SPM Buzz’s Shiku Kariuki on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, Jaymo argued that the idea of men being “polygamous by nature” is largely a social construct rather than a biological reality.

According to him, many men are content in monogamous relationships and do not feel the need to pursue multiple partners.

“My stand on polygamy is that one wife is enough. You just focus on her. The thing about people saying men are polygamous in nature, that is just proverbs people invent out of nowhere,” he said.

He urged people not to be swayed by popular narratives or societal pressure, encouraging individuals to make relationship choices based on personal values rather than widely circulated beliefs.

“Majority of men actually settle with one lady and they are good, so don’t follow people’s advice,” he added.

Beyond relationships, the comedian also opened up about his journey in the entertainment industry, reflecting on the challenges he faced at the beginning of his career. He recalled a time when he had to borrow basic equipment, such as cameras and even phones, to create content, all while struggling to gain recognition from audiences.

Jaymo admitted that despite putting in significant effort, his work was not always well-received in the early stages, a period he described as one of the lowest moments in his career.

“My lowest moment in my career was back when I was starting because there were quite a lot of challenges. That time I was borrowing a lot of things, including cameras and even phones to shoot at times. You are putting in effort but the audience is still not receiving what you are doing well,” Jaymo shared.

He also shared insights into his academic background, revealing that he scored 420 marks in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams and later attained a grade A in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE). He went on to study journalism and mass communication at the university level.

“In my KCPE I had 420 marks, and in KCSE I had an A plain, and on campus I did Journalism and Mass Communication,” he said.

On his musical preferences, Jaymo said he has a strong inclination towards gospel music, mentioning that he particularly enjoys songs by Israel Mbonyi.

When it comes to finances, the comedian noted that he does not keep close track of his mobile money balance, explaining that he primarily uses cash and leaves financial management to his team.

“My M-Pesa balance, I don’t really have because I mostly use cash. And my broke amount I can’t know because I don’t deal with my money, I mostly leave my team to manage that for me,” he added.
