Instagram influencer Karis Memes announces mum’s sudden death in emotional message
Instagram influencer Dan Kariuki Kamau, popularly known as Karis Memes, has announced the death of his mother in a deeply personal post.
In the post shared on Instagram on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, Karis revealed that his mother passed away on Monday afternoon, describing the loss as one of the most difficult moments he has ever faced.

“I lost my beautiful mother yesterday afternoon. I’m still in disbelief,” he wrote.
In his message, he reflected on the central role she played in his life, crediting her as his biggest supporter, a constant source of motivation, and a pillar of strength throughout his journey.
Karis highlighted how his mother ensured he and his family were always taken care of, noting her dedication, presence, and unwavering support over the years.
“My biggest fan. My main support system. My everyday motivation. The one who made sure I never lacked anything,” he wrote.
He also remembered her as someone who brought joy and laughter into their lives and consistently checked in on him even during challenging times.
The influencer noted that sharing the news publicly was the hardest thing he has done on his platforms, underscoring the depth of his grief.
“The one who made sure I never got stuck anywhere in my entire life. The one who checked up on me when nobody cared. The one who made us laugh. This one hurts,” Karis added.
He also called on his followers to keep his father and his sisters, Wambui and Shiko, in their thoughts and prayers as the family copes with the loss.
Karis referenced cancer in his message, pointing to the illness as part of the family’s difficult journey and expressing hope for a future where it is overcome.
“The toughest post I’ve ever done on my platforms. Keep my Dad, my sisters, Wambui & Shiko, in your prayers. One day, cancer shall be defeated. Mama memes are out. Her legacy is in. I love you mom. Till we meet again,” he revealed.
Since sharing the news, messages of condolence and support have poured in from fans and fellow content creators, many expressing sympathy and standing with him during this period of mourning.
Some of the celebrities who sent him messages of comfort include rapper King Kaka and actress Jacky Vicke, popularly known as Awinja.
Awinja expressed deep sorrow over the loss and offered words of reassurance, noting that things would eventually be well.

King Kaka, on his part, called on God to remember Karis and affirmed that he would keep him in his prayers during this difficult time, wishing him and his family peace and strength.
