Gospel musician Peter Omwaka, popularly known as Guardian Angel, has dismissed rumours that fellow singer Sammy G was ever officially signed under his record label, clarifying that the two have only collaborated professionally.

Speaking after attending Eko Dydda’s album launch in an interview shared on TikTok on Monday, February 2, 2026, the ‘Wakati Wa Mungu’ hitmaker emphasised that no formal contract or label signing ever took place.

“It should be clear that I never signed him under my label. Not really; it’s only that I had worked with him. No one has even signed him in my label,” he said.

He noted that although there was a plan to perform together in Nakuru during a past event, logistical issues prevented them from attending the show as initially intended.

Angel explained that he had spoken with Sammy G on the Friday, last week, and clarified that the latter’s presence in Nairobi made it impossible to coordinate.

“Yes, there was that Nakuru story where I had wanted to perform with him. I actually spoke with him on Friday, but I wanted to go with him somewhere for a performance, but unfortunately, he was in Nairobi, and that made it hard for him to come,” he clarified.

Despite the missed opportunity, the ‘Yesu Sio Mwizi’ crooner was keen to stress that there is no animosity or vendetta between them.

“So we were never able to attend together, but there is no vendetta between me and him,” he shared.

He further elaborated that he regards Sammy G as a son and is always supportive of artistes he works with.

He expressed a desire to see him grow and succeed in his career, highlighting that their relationship has always been rooted in mentorship and encouragement rather than competition or conflict.

“I regard Sammy G as my son. I like to see people go far, grow and rise up in life, so I can never at one point have a problem or vendetta with someone I am wishing that they grow,” he said.

The clarification comes in the wake of previous tension between the two gospel artistes.

In August 2025, Sammy G had issued a heartfelt public apology to Guardian Angel, acknowledging past misunderstandings that played out in the public eye.

Sammy G expressed respect for Guardian Angel, describing him as a mentor and father figure, and asked for forgiveness for any missteps.

Guardian Angel responded to the apology with warmth, wishing Sammy G the peace of the Lord and signalling a potential reconciliation between them.

Amani ya Bwana iwe nawe 🙏🏿🙏🏿 @sammy_g_ke Bless you,” he wrote.
