Grade 10

Under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) system, Grade 10 marks the beginning of senior school, where learners start focusing on career pathways based on their strengths and interests.

Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Julius Ogamba, speaking at Mitihani House in Nairobi on Thursday, December 11, 2025, during the release of the first Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) results, said that the placement of learners into senior schools will be based on the three pathways: STEM, Arts & Sports Science, and Social Sciences.

Ogamba said the placement exercise will strictly follow learners’ performance and their selected pathways.

“It is expected that Grade 10 learners will report to their respective schools starting from January 12, 2025,” he confirmed.
