Ali Yusuf, popularly known as Arrow Bwoy, is one of Kenya’s most dynamic dancehall artists, whose journey from the streets of Nairobi to music stardom is a story of grit and determination. Born on May 25, 1993, in Huruma, Nairobi, he is the last-born in a family of four.

After completing secondary school in Uganda, Arrow returned to Kenya, where survival became his first hustle. Selling samosas and groundnuts at City Market and working as a meat supplier, he built the foundation of resilience that would later fuel his music career.

Early steps in music

Arrow Bwoy first entered the music scene in 2012 under the name Ali Kiwa as part of the trio Qbic Crew, releasing tracks like “Angelina” and “Make You Mine.” In 2015, he rebranded as Arrow Bwoy and pursued a solo career.

His breakthrough came in 2017–2018 when King Kaka signed him to Kaka Empire. The dancehall single “Digi Digi” became an instant hit across Kenya and East Africa, followed by other club favourites such as “Murder,” “Shikisha,” and “Happy Birthday.”

Independence and growth

Since going independent in 2019, Arrow Bwoy launched Utembe World, his record label and music academy. He signed and mentored singer Iyanii as his first artiste and continued releasing consistent music before parting ways.

His 2022 album Focus and 2023 EP Love & Vibes were followed by a wave of 2025–2026 singles such as Tumewaka (feat. Watendawili), Kilimani, Jolly, and the romantic 2026 track Nimebarikiwa.

Known for energetic dancehall fused with Afrobeats and heartfelt lyrics, he has collaborated with both local stars and international acts like Mayorkun, Demarco, and Voltage.

On the personal front, Arrow Bwoy and Nadia Mukami have built a high-profile relationship, welcoming son Haseeb Kai in 2022 and announcing their second child in 2025.
