Dancehall fans in Kenya are gearing up for one of the most anticipated live shows of 2026.
This comes after Jamaican music superstar Vybz Kartel was confirmed as the headline act for the newly launched Talanta East Afrika Festival, a regional cultural showcase touring three East African cities in May 2026.
The festival promises an exciting blend of international and local talent. Alongside Kartel, Kenyan musician Fidel Eli Shammah Omusula, popularly known as Charisma, will perform as the festival stops in Kampala, Kigali, and Nairobi.

Concert details
The regional tour will begin on May 1, 2026, in Kampala, Uganda, at Lugogo Cricket Oval, followed by a show in Kigali, Rwanda, on May 2, 2026, at BK Arena, and in Nairobi, the concert, scheduled for May 8, 2026, at Laureate Gardens, Kasarani, marks a landmark moment for the Kenyan entertainment industry.
Fans can expect an electrifying performance from the King of Dancehall, featuring both his chart-topping hits and festival collaborations with local artists.
Tickets and prices
Tickets for the Nairobi concert are already generating massive excitement. Early bird “Gaza rates” are set at Ksh 3,000 for Regular Tickets, while Ksh 10,000 for VIP.
These prices have been described as fan-friendly, particularly for an international act of Kartel’s stature. With tickets now on sale and excitement building, Vybz Kartel’s Kenyan concert is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about entertainment events of the year.

What to expect
Although Vybz Kartel is the headline international act, organisers say the show will feature a blend of local and regional performers, turning the Nairobi concert into a broader celebration of East African music, culture and artistry alongside the dancehall legend.
The concert is expected to attract fans from across Kenya and neighbouring countries, creating a vibrant, cross‑border music experience. With Kartel’s energetic live performances and hit catalogue, the show is shaping up to be one of the year’s biggest entertainment events in the region.
Talanta East Afrika Festival
Organisers described the Talanta East Afrika Festival as a cross-border platform aimed at celebrating the region’s music, fashion, cuisine and artistic expression, while positioning East Africa as a growing force in the global live entertainment industry.
Speaking during the launch, Bushington of Tunez Records Uganda said the festival is about more than entertainment, describing it as a platform created to unite East Africans through music, culture and shared identity, while showcasing the region’s creative energy to global audiences.
Co-organiser Mayanja Jackson said the festival is structured as a sustainable cultural movement rather than a one-off event. He noted that the long-term goal is to build a regional platform that consistently elevates East African creativity and strengthens cross-border cultural exchange.
