Ruger lands in Kenya ahead of Vurugu 2 bout
By Valerian Khakayi, June 19, 2026Nigerian Afrobeats and dancehall singer Ruger has arrived in Kenya ahead of the highly anticipated Vurugu 2 event scheduled for June 20, 2026.
The singer whose real name is Michael Adebayo Olayinka touched down on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), where he is expected to headline part of the entertainment lineup.
The event, which blends boxing and music, is set to bring together some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment in a unique high-energy showcase.
Apart from Ruger, the festival lineup includes Kenyan hip-hop heavyweights Khaligraph Jones and Wakadinali, who will deliver closing performances.

Vurugu 2
The event promoter Oga Obinna earlier said that Vurugu 2 will be bigger, louder and have more international acts.
“Vurugu 2 is going to be bigger and better, and now we have international fighters and performers. On the music entertainment side, we have Ruger from Nigeria, Khaligraph Jones, and Wakadinali,” Oga Obina said.
“On the DJ lineup, we have Moh Spice, Kim Nickdee, DJ P Scratch, and DJ Double Trap. On the microphone, we have Mrs Obinna, MC Antonio, and others.”
Unlike Vurugu 1, in Vurugu two fighters will be competing for significant cash rewards, with even undercard participants expected to earn up to Ksh 1 million, in addition to official championship titles.
Obinna has also positioned the event as part of Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month this June, using the platform to encourage open conversations around emotional wellbeing among men.
According to organisers, Vurugu season two is designed not only as a sporting competition but also as a structured environment where men can safely release pressure, express vulnerability, and support one another.
The initiative also carries a broader message urging men to listen and respond when peers speak up about mental health struggles.
Once the boxing action concludes and champions are crowned, the arena will transition into a full-scale music concert experience.

Fighters
In the boxing segment, several fighters are set to face off in different bouts. Arrow Bwoy will go head-to-head with Shakib, while Gachau is scheduled to fight Phil in another highly anticipated match.
Veteran Kenyan boxer Fatuma Zarika is also expected to feature in the ring, adding experience and star power to the event.
Organisers have further announced a late change in the fight card, with Mbavu Destroyer stepping in to replace Majembe in a bout against Somali boxer.
The June 20 spectacle is expected to draw a large crowd, combining sport, music, and social awareness in what has been billed as one of the most dynamic entertainment events of the year.
