Esther Musila challenges youth mindset on growing older

Gospel singer Guardian Angel’s wife, Esther Musila, has challenged the mindset among young people about ageing, saying life and happiness do not depend only on youth.

She spoke about different stages of life and urged people to focus on purpose. Musila explained that growing older comes with experience and should be valued.

“There is a generation that thinks life and happiness only revolve around age/youthfulness,” Esther Musila said on Monday, May 4, 2026.

She explained that many people forget that older generations have already gone through the same stages. Musila said that every phase of life has its own meaning and lessons. She added that some people do not know if they will reach older age.

“The stage of life you are in, tulikuwa huko kitambo, experienced it, and some of us… Here we are!” she said.

Musila continued to urge people to reflect on their journey and focus on living with purpose. She said that reaching later stages of life is not guaranteed for everyone. Her message focused on appreciating life and staying healthy.

“Hujui kama utawahi fika hapa. Pray to get here healthy and having lived life with a purpose!” Esther Musila said.

Shifting views on ageing

She stressed that life should not be wasted chasing youth alone. Musila explained that people should value each stage and the growth that comes with it. She said that life is short and should be lived fully.

“You only live ONCE!!!!” she said.

Musila recently urged women over 40 not to feel ashamed of wrinkles and other signs of ageing. She explained that such changes are natural and part of life. She encouraged women to accept these changes with confidence.

She addressed women between 40 and 60 and beyond, noting that this stage comes with visible changes. Musila said these include wrinkles, grey hair, and weight changes. She explained that these signs should not be feared but embraced.

Musila encouraged women to take pride in growing older and to see it as a privilege. She said ageing shows that one has lived through different experiences.

She maintained that people should focus on purpose and health as they grow older and that living a meaningful life matters more than staying young.
