Eric Omondi raises Ksh176K in 1 hour to assist mothers take kids to school
By Charles Ouma, January 22, 2026Popular comedian Eric Omondi has given an update on a fundraising appeal launched on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, to support mothers who were unable to take their children to school in January.
In a statement shared via his Facebook account on Thursday, January 22, 2026, Omondi announced that a total of Ksh176K was collected during the online fundraiser on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
“Yesternight we managed to raise Ksh 176,000 in one hour between 8:00 pm and 9:00 pm,” Omondi stated.
The activist thanked well-wishers who supported the initiative, which saw the amount raised in one hour, with his online supporters dubbed Team Sisi Kwa Sisi coming through as they have always done in the past.

The philanthropist revealed that the money raised will be used to take the children to school on Thursday, January 22, 2026.
“Na sasa hawa watoto wataenda shule leo (These children will go to school today). TEAM SISI KWA SISI, GOD BLESS YOU ABUNDANTLY,” he added.
What inspired Eric Omondi
Omondi launched the initiative in response to overwhelming requests by mothers who were unable to take their children to school due to financial difficulties this month.
“This year we said we are leaving no one behind. These mothers, single mothers, and widows have been unable to take their children to school this January,” he stated.

He invited Kenyans of goodwill to contribute towards the Sisi Kwa Sisi Education Fund, expressing hope that the children would report to school.
“Hundreds have contacted me seeking help, and I know by tomorrow all these kids will be in school courtesy of Sisi Kwa Sisi. Please send whatever you can,” Omondi continued.

He shared details of how well-wishers can contribute and organised an online fundraiser on the same day.
