Emotional Dr Ofweneke celebrates major award after 17 years in media

Renowned media personality Dr Ofweneke has celebrated winning a major award after close to two decades in the industry with a heartwarming post that reflected the depth of his appreciation.
Ofweneke reflected on his journey in the industry in a statement on Instagram, revealing that the award came after years of hard work, prayers and sweat.
“🦅🦅🦅THE EAGLE🦅🦅🦅 || After 17 Years of hard work, sweat, prayers, and self-belief, we now have an award 😝😝😝😝,” he wrote on Instagram on Sunday, March 29, 2026.
He thanked the organisers of the event for honouring his work with the award and appreciated the clients with whom he has worked over the years.
Ofweneke: Gift ordained by God
According to the media personality, getting acknowledged and honoured by winning awards is what happens when one’s talent is ordained by God.
“This is what happens when your gift is God-ordained || to all my clients of any event I have done, thank you, manze!” Ofweneke added.
The celebrated comedian was crowned the Most Professional Male Event MC of the Year at the Consumer Choice Awards 2026 in Nairobi, with Azeezah Hashim bagging the Most Elite Female MC of the Year Award.
Humble beginnings to remarkable success
Ofweneke has over the years, worked hard to grow his career from humble beginnings as a comedian, expanding his scope to emceeing.
Over time, he expanded into hosting and media, appearing in and hosting several shows with remarkable success.
Featuring on Churchill Show was perhaps the big break that boosted his career, helping him gain national recognition.
He has earned recognition as one of Kenya’s leading comedians, securing endorsements, media roles, and industry respect in his career spanning more than a decade.
Opening own company
He expanded his empire in 2019 after establishing his own company dealing with Events Management, Artists Booking, Brand Activation and Digital Marketing.
“THE EAGLE, God has been too faithful in my life. Today I called my parents to come and bless my new and first office for my company, DEFA MEDIA GROUP LIMITED, which we are running with my business partner, Abelthemc. My people pray to God, He answers prayers!” Dr Ofweneke stated at the time.
